The drill and punch plan was reversed and attached to teh bottom of the panel.
This helps drilling as the bent tabs do no have to be level and I can test fit parts and admire as needed!

Paraset Panel Fabrication Pt 1
The Mk-VII Paraset replica build has officially begun! I have been collecting parts and information since about July and now it is time to "start bending metal"
The chassis blank is a rectangle of 18AWG sheet steel:

The size is almost a perfect match, with the exception of the tabs used for mounting must be smaller, on the order of 1/8" vs. the 1/4" of the original:
The steel was intended to be used as a fender repair for the John Deere, it was easy to work. Unfortunately I am not set up for this kind of metal work; I have no sheer or bending break.
A hack saw and some persistent pounding with the steel clamped between a couple of steel angle irons and a smooth face hammer produced this resonable blank chassis.
BTW ~ Most of the good build info, schematics, history, and original pictures I have come from intenet browsing:
ONLY to name a few, and in no particular order.
